Steve Bohannon

Steve Bohannon - March 6, 1953 - December 5, 2022

Posting this on March 3, 2023 after the discovery that Steve's passing was not on our website. Apologies for that. Here's a  post from Steve's FB page from good friend Maggie Cogan Murphy:

It's difficult to let this man go, so I will send my last thoughts with you. He and I spent much time during dodger games, giant games and the hated Yankee games texting back and forth, he tolerated my Seattle Marines about how we both "really feeled" we did the same with football as Steve was not able to move around alot and loved sharing sports with anyone. Then their was his dog Buddy, his best friend, once he went Steve was not far behind. Add to that his love for Cars, for his family, his love for all that is "Bohannon" I knew Steve for along time but the best times were at South Pas and then again when we found each other thru this strange media. He knew he was going a long time before I realized it. I apologize to his friends and family and to Sally and Tina for not posting my condolences and my fondness of a good friend. When I was out sailing and he was able to communicate he would always tell me to be safe out there, and end it with, "I can't believe that you do this!" God rest his precious Bohannon soul and may he rest in peace with all the Bohannons that went too early before him.

Note: The dates of Steve's birth and passing are from the sphsaa.org site.

I was so sorry to hear of Steve's passing.  My most recent association with him was in regards to his nephew Jordan, who was a basketball star at the University of Iowa.  Being a mutual sports fan I would email back and forth with him about "March Madness" and Jordan's accomplishments.  He was truly a proud Uncle.

My best memories of Steve however, dates back to our Junior High and High School days. We would be sitting in the back of a classroom and I would watch Steve crack open his sketchbook and begin scratching out his observations of the day.  He had a quick wit and keen sense of humor which would be reflected in his loose, looping, scribbling artistic style.  Unfortunately, one of his best caricatures of a junior high English teacher did land him in the principals office.  All to say Steve was a smart, talented man with a quick, sometimes sarcastic sense of humor.  He was an independent observer of life and he will be missed.  Rest in Peace Steve.

Steve and I first met as kids attending Holy Family's elementary school. At recess I recall a game where we could play baseball using a tennis ball, and then use an extended arm and fist as a bat. Steve was the homerun king. Much more recently we shared Facebook exchanges. And he and sketched a picture with a caricature of me over a grill, doing what I like to do. Friend Alison Stanley framed it. And it now is a treasured momento. I know he truly loved his dog, Buddy, and I think everyone who followed him on Facebook did, too. I'm very sad that he is gone from our present day life, but hope he and Buddy are connected again.

Steve was always a clown and kept up that wry sense of humor until the end.  We dated in 10th grade and I remember the gentle, silly guy he always was.  We spoke often in the last few years, mostly about his dog, my dogs, horses, etc.   He was so distraught to lose his dog, Buddy, we discussed many options of how to help Buddy with his physical issues as he aged.  I had no idea what had happened to Steve, only that I couldn't get hold of him for a couple months.  I hope his passing was quick and effortless. There'll be a big reuinion one day!.

Love you, Steve!
